The Bangladesh women’s kabaddi team received the bronze medal at the prize distribution ceremony of the 6th edition of the Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship, held on Saturday in the Iranian town of Pardis.
In addition to the medal, the Bangladesh kabaddi team also received a trophy.
Meanwhile, India emerged as unbeaten champions in the tournament, defeating host Iran by 33-25 points in the final held on Saturday.
Earlier, on Friday, Bangladesh secured the bronze medal by reaching the semifinals of the championship, beating Thailand 42-27 in their last group match.
However, they were eliminated from the final's race after suffering a 41-18 point defeat to host Iran in the second semifinal, held on the same day.
This tournament in Iran will serve as a platform ahead of the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup, set to take place in Bihar later this year. It will provide a preparatory ground for the participating teams to fine-tune their skills.
