This film is based on Manik Bandyopadhyay’s renowned novel Putulnacher Itikatha and directed by Suman Mukhopadhyay, an Indian film director.
The Rotterdam International Film Festival will be held in Rotterdam, Netherlands, from January 30 to February 9. The film has been chosen for the festival's Big Screen Competition. However, the exact date for the premiere of the film, featuring Jaya Ahsan and Abir Chatterjee, has not been revealed yet.
Jaya Ahsan portrays Kusum in the film, while Kolkata actor Abir Chatterjee takes on the role of Dr. Shashi. The film also features Dhritiman Chatterjee, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, and Ananya Chatterjee from Kolkata. The shooting commenced in 2022.The shooting for the film began in 2022.
Suman Mukhopadhyay described the premiere of Putulnacher Itikatha at the Rotterdam International Film Festival as a "great achievement." He said that the plan to make a film based on Manik's timeless novel had been in place for one and a half decades, but for various reasons, it couldn't materialize. He expressed his gratitude to every actor, actress, and crew member who gave their all in making this film.
