The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday wrote to the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), the intelligence wing of the central bank, seeking all documents related to the local and international transactions of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, her younger sister Sheikh Rehana, and Rehana's daughter and British lawmaker Tulip Siddiq.
The investigation team also sought personal documents from the Election Commission and Immigration and Passport Office of the individuals involved in the allegations.
ACC sources said the anti-graft body has started investigating corruption allegations against Sheikh Hasina, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Sheikh Rehana, and Tulip Siddiq, saying they embezzled Tk 8,000 crore from the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant from 2009 to 2023.
At the same time, the ACC is investigating another allegation of $300 million money laundering against Sheikh Hasina and her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
