A fire that broke out at Building 7 of the Bangladesh Secretariat in the capital’s Segunbagicha area early Thursday has been completely doused after 10 hours.
The fire was fully extinguished at 11:45 am, said Directorate of Fire Services and Civil Defence official Talha Bib Jasim.
Earlier in the morning, fire service media cell inspector Anwarul Islam said the fire was brought under control at 8:05 am.
The fire broke out at 1:52 am.
On information, 211 members of 19 firefighting units rushed to the spot to bring the fire under control.
Members of the army, police, and Armed Police Battalion (APBn) were deployed to assist the firefighters.
Meanwhile, a firefighter died after being hit by a speedily covered van while working to douse a fire at the Bangladesh Secretariat.
The deceased is Sohanur Zaman Nayon, a firefighter from the special branch of Tejgaon Fire Station.
