Managing Director of the Bangladesh Climate Change Trust (BCCT) Md Rafiqul Islam passed away on Wednesday.
He (an additional secretary) breathed his last at 1 pm while undergoing treatment at a city hospital, according to UNB.
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan and Environment Secretary Dr Farhina Ahmed expressed deep shock at his demise.
Rafiqul Islam, a member of the 18th BCS Administration cadre, joined the civil service in 1999 and has been in the role of Managing Director of BCCT since July last.
