Spanish football club Real Madrid has a sophisticated history of come-back to the match as its supporters worldwide witnessed dozens of such matches.
On Tuesday night, the team added another feather to its cap as they snatched the win from Borussia Dortmund fighting back from a clear Two-Nil difference till 60 minutes of the match.
In the first half of the match, Dortmund’s Malen and Bynoe-Gittens helped the team to take the lead as they scored in 30, and 34 minutes of the match respectively.
Madrid had gone into the dressing room 2-0 down.
A banner before the game announced that this was Madrid’s crown and Madrid’s cup, which it always was and always will be, but at that stage it you wondered if it might just be Dortmund’s night.
But history repeats itself- and the Real Madrid made it one more time.
During the 60 minutes of the match, when the supporter of Dortmund started planning celebration against the defending champion, the scenario has changed as Antonio Rüdiger sent the ball to the net from Real Madrid’s side.
Madrid went from 2-0 down to 2-2 in just 103 seconds! Just 103 seconds later to Rudiger’s goal, Vinícius scored another astonishing goal making another come-back happen.
Then Lucas Vázquez put Real Madrid into the lead with seven minutes left, and less than one minute after Thibaut Courtois had saved them from trailing again.
Finally Vinícius produced two more, the first a belting finish, and to complete a hat-trick and another comeback for the club that can’t get enough of them.
Supporters’ Delirium took hold, and chanted inside, “This is how Madrid win”.
Only one team has ever won a UEFA Champions League game by three goals having trailed by two before – and that was them too. Real can just make their record stronger, and impossible to break and only team that can line with their records.
Meanwhile, this was Vinicius Jr.’s first hat-trick in the competition after 59 appearances, and the third of his professional career. However, after the hat-trick he appeared to media and said, “In this cup and in this place anything can happen”.
“We went in at half-time shitting ourselves but we listened, we said get one, we’ll come back again,” the Brazilian revealed, and so it was.
