The current interim government is about to transition into an all-party government. Several advisers will be replaced and new individuals who are acceptable to various political factions will join. This move aims to guarantee that the forthcoming election is fair, impartial, and widely acceptable.
However, Dr. Muhammad Yunus will remain the head of the consensus government. To facilitate the formation of this consensus government, a senior secretary-level special assistant to the chief advisor will be appointed.
This information has been confirmed through sources from the Chief Advisor's office, the Cabinet Division, and the Ministry of Public Administration.
According to sources, the interim government seeks to hold an election that is widely accepted. The government is considering the election for multiple reasons. The chief advisor has already provided a potential outline for the election.
To ensure fairness and impartiality, Dr. Muhammad Yunus will restructure the government. Several new faces will be added to the government. Representatives from political parties, religious groups, and socially accepted individuals will be coordinated to perform this task effectively.
The sources revealed that a person will be appointed as the special assistant to the chief advisor for coordination in this matter. This person will hold the position of senior secretary. It is believed that the individual could be a media personality. The sources also confirmed that the official notification for this appointment will be issued promptly in the next few days.
The Chief Secretary from the Chief Advisor's office has urgently sent a summary of this matter to the Cabinet Division, which has subsequently been forwarded to the Ministry of Public Administration.
According to sources in the Ministry of Public Administration, a notification will be issued at any time. The summary states that the individual will be responsible for the work of forming a consensus. It also mentions that the duration of the appointment will be six months.
Former Secretary and public administration expert AKM Abdul Awal Majumdar told Bangladesh Protidin, "It would be a positive move if it is done with qualified individuals."
He further stated, “If it is a consensus government, I would prioritize three tasks: first, to remove the instability among the people and bring stability; second, to solve the reforms that can be logically implemented, and to conduct a smooth and acceptable election.”
In his speech to the nation on December 16, Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus had revealed plans to create a “National Consensus Formation Commission” to foster national unity. It was also mentioned that the commission would focus on building political consensus for state reforms.
In the initial phase, it was announced that a "National Consensus Formation Commission" would be formed with the chairpersons of the six reform commissions. It was also mentioned that the Chief Advisor would take on the role of the chairman of this commission.
However, the commission has not been formed yet. When inquired about it, the Cabinet Division informed that the commission can be established separately, but no instructions have been received on the matter yet.
