Students of the Bashundhara Shuvosangho School in the remote Char Agasti area of Patuakhali received new textbooks on the first day of the year, sparking joy and excitement among the children.
The textbook distribution took place at the school located in Char Agasti of Char Bishwas union under Galachipa upazila of the district.
Students were seen enthusiastically flipping through the pages of their new books, their faces reflecting long-cherished hopes and dreams for the future.
First-grade student Jannatul said the pictures in the new books were very attractive and made learning enjoyable.
Second-grade student Rubina described the day as a happy one, saying the new books and promotion to a new class had filled her with excitement.
Char Agasti is a hard-to-reach area where most residents depend on fishing and agriculture for their livelihoods. Due to the lack of nearby educational institutions, children in the area have long remained deprived of formal education. To address this gap, Bashundhara Shuvosangho launched the school initiative three years ago to bring the light of education to local children.
Teacher Shahinur said there was no government school close to the area and that the establishment of the Bashundhara Shuvosangho School had created new opportunities for children to build a better future and develop modern life skills.
He added that despite various challenges, the school authorities were pleased to be able to hand over new books to students on the very first day of the year.
He said the school’s current focus is on nurturing students’ talents alongside completing regular classroom activities to ensure their overall development.
