Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised a discussion session to honour the Freedom Fighters of the 1971 Liberation War at the Wagai Para Library Hall Room in Rowangchhari Upazila, Bandarban on Wednesday.
The event was organised with the aim of remembering history, inspiring patriotism, and spreading the spirit of the Liberation War among the younger generation.
The session was presided over by Shimol Tanchangya, president of the Bashundhara Shuvosangho Rowangchhari Upazila unit. Elderly citizens of the area, advisers to the organization, and general members were present. The programme began with a one-minute silence in memory of the martyrs of the Liberation War.
Speaking at the discussion, local senior citizen Suprakash Tanchangya said, “The Liberation War of 1971 was a struggle to protect our national identity and existence. Without the sacrifices of the valiant freedom fighters, we would not be citizens of an independent Bangladesh today. It is our collective responsibility to pass this history on to the new generation.”
Another senior citizen, Bimal Tanchangya, said, “The spirit of the Liberation War should not remain confined to remembrance alone. It must be reflected in honesty, justice, and patriotism. Such initiatives help guide society in the right direction.”
Bashundhara Shuvosangho Rowangchhari Upazila unit adviser Apon Tanchangya said, “The core values of the Liberation War are humanity, compassion, and a sense of responsibility toward society. Keeping these ideals in mind, Bashundhara Shuvosangho has been carrying out various social and development activities.”
