Bashundhara Shuvosangho has inaugurated a three-month-long sewing training programme in Sapahar, Naogaon, aimed at empowering underprivileged women and helping them achieve self-reliance.
The programme was formally launched on Saturday at 10:00am at the Sapahar Model Government Primary School premises.
The inaugural event was presided over by Monwarul Islam, president of the Sapahar Upazila unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho.
The chief guest, Mahbubul Alam, principal of Sapahar Al Helal Islami Academy and College, officially inaugurated the training programme through his address, highlighting the importance of skill-based initiatives in improving the livelihoods of disadvantaged women.
The event was moderated by Taslim Uddin, adviser to the Bashundhara Shuvosangho Sapahar Upazila unit and local correspondent of Kaler Kantho.
Among others present at the ceremony were Babul Akhtar, general secretary of the Sapahar Press Club; Kamrul Islam, vice-president of the Press Club; journalist Sohel Chowdhury; retired head teacher of Khottapara Government Primary School Mahfuzul Haque; and other local dignitaries.
The 15 underprivileged women enrolled in the training programme were also in attendance.
According to the organisers, the training sessions will be held every Friday and Saturday over the next three months, in line with Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s established programme structure.
Upon completion of the training, each of the 15 participants will receive a new sewing machine free of cost to support their journey toward self-employment.
The initiative reflects Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s ongoing efforts to promote women’s empowerment and sustainable livelihood development at the grassroots level.
