Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Khetlal upazila unit in Joypurhat has distributed winter vegetable seeds among farmers to promote sustainable agriculture and support rural livelihoods.
The distribution ceremony, held on Wednesday in Kachakul village, provided farmers with improved local and hybrid varieties of winter vegetable seeds, including bottle gourd, pumpkin, Malabar spinach, spinach, brinjal, radish, chilli, tomato, carrot and beans.
Speaking at the event, Shuvosangho Khetlal unit president M Russell Ahmed said, “Agriculture is not just a profession; it is the strength of life. Bangladesh moves forward through the hard work of its farmers. Bashundhara Shuvosangho will always remain a partner in this progress.”
General Secretary Nazmul Hossain said, “Seeds do not just produce crops; they give birth to dreams. We want the youth to rediscover their love for agriculture and empower the farming community.”
Among others present were women affairs secretary Helena Akter, publicity secretary Ammar Hossain, members Zahid Hasan, Arman Hossain, Shamim Ahmed, Roni Babu, Rowshanara Rifah and Fahmida Roshni.
Khetlal Upazila Agriculture Officer Mallika Rani said, “Producing safe and chemical-free vegetables is essential. Using organic fertiliser and modern techniques can help ensure healthy, nutritious vegetables in the market. These seeds will increase production and bring financial relief to farmers.”
She further said that when Shuvosangho stands beside farmers, positive progress is visible across all areas—from food security to rural development.
Farmers who received the seeds said the initiative would encourage them in cultivation and help improve family nutrition and income.
