Bashundhara Shuvosangho in Haluaghat upazila of Mymensingh organised a discussion meeting aimed at raising awareness against drug abuse and accelerating community development initiatives on Saturday.
Addressing the event, Alinur Khan, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and adviser to Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Haluaghat upazila unit, underscored the importance of anti-drug campaigns, praised the constructive role of young people, and lauded the ongoing activities of Shuvosangho.
As a token of appreciation, Shuvosangho members presented the UNO with a book by noted writer Imdadul Haq Milan.
Shuvosangho upazila unit President Jihaduzzaman Shihab presided over the meeting, while Acting General Secretary Fakhria Sithi spoke as the chief discussant. Vice-President Robiul Hasan, Al Shahriar Bibek, Abdullah Al Noman, Finance Secretary Poly, and Organising Secretary Abdullah Al-Tamim also addressed the programme.
Others present included Work and Planning Secretary Sadika Afrin Kamini, Kasmim Akter, Sahera Siddika, Jannat Jahan Juthi, Araf Tasin, Fahim Islam Shuvo, Publicity Secretary Waheduzzaman Sadman, Sujit, Raihan Khan Pathan, Women and Children Affairs Secretary Taiyabatul Jannat Urbi, Akhi, Farzana Akter Eni, Sokal, Lamia, Jannat, Urmi, Tanha Tayeba Nuha, and Sports Secretary Mohammad Rifat, along with other office-bearers and members.
Speakers noted that the spread of drugs continues to cause serious harm to families, the youth, and the nation. They stressed that young people must take the lead in combating this destructive trend.
Shuvosangho reaffirmed its commitment to continuing cultural, humanitarian, and awareness activities.
The meeting concluded with the adoption of several social development plans and the announcement of upcoming programmes.
