A sewing training programme aimed at creating employment opportunities for underprivileged women has been launched in Raninagar upazila of Naogaon, under the initiative of Bashundhara Shuvosangho.
The inauguration ceremony was held on Saturday at 10am in the classroom of Harishpur Ibtedayi Madrasa.
Raninagar Upazila BNP’s Religious Affairs Secretary Md Russel Sarker attended the event as the chief guest.
In his inaugural speech, he said, “This initiative by Bashundhara Shuvosangho is truly commendable. Women can acquire tailoring skills from home while managing household responsibilities. This will help them contribute financially to their families and improve their living standards.”
The programme was presided over by SM Saiful Islam, president of Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Raninagar upazila unit.
Among others, Upazila Jubo Dal Joint Convener Majedul Islam, Mirat Union Tanti Dal President Nur Islam, sewing trainer Nurun Nahar Lovely, Anwar Hossain, Shahidul Islam, Belal Hossain, and Shuvosangho upazila adviser and Kaler Kantho Correspondent Shahrokh Hossain Ahad addressed the gathering.
A total of 15 selected women from different areas of the upazila attended the inauguration as trainees.
Speakers noted that the three-month training programme will provide sewing lessons to 15 poor and financially vulnerable women.
Training sessions will take place every Friday and Saturday.
Upon completion, each participant will receive a sewing machine free of cost from Bashundhara Group to help them become self-reliant.
They also said that Bashundhara Shuvosangho is not only focused on service activities but has been playing a significant role across the country in raising awareness, assisting impoverished communities, distributing winter clothes, supporting disaster victims, and implementing self-employment initiatives.
In addition, Bashundhara Group continues to contribute substantially to job creation and remains at the forefront of efforts to reduce unemployment nationwide.
