Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Rangpur district unit on Thursday organised a discussion session aimed at reducing health risks for children during the winter season.
The event took place at Patbari Satellite School in the Satmatha area of the city.
Md Sadakat Hossain, president of the Rangpur district unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho, attended the event as chief guest.
Also present were Tanzim Hasan, general secretary of the district committee; Sohag Das, finance secretary; the school teacher, Ayesha Khatun; and school inspector of Rangpur City Corporation Debbrat Kumar Sharma, among others.
During the session, Sadakat Hossain provided detailed instructions on preventive measures against winter-related illnesses in children. He said, “During winter, cold, cough, pneumonia, dry skin, asthma, and breathing difficulties increase. Therefore, awareness and basic preventive measures are extremely important in this period.”
Golzar Rahman Ador, coordinator of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Rangpur, noted that many parents reduce water intake for their children in winter, which can lead to dehydration.
He also emphasised that consuming fruits rich in vitamin C helps strengthen immunity.
Addressing the children, he said, “You should wear adequate warm clothing, maintain personal hygiene, eat nutritious food, and drink sufficient water. These are the main ways to stay healthy during winter.”
Thirty students from the school participated in the session. At the end of the programme, students were given essential health protection items, including soap, toothpaste, shampoo, and palm oil.
