Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised a children’s drawing contest to honour the Month of Victory at the Mathbaria upazila in Pirojpur on Monday morning.
Primary school students took part in the contest on the Shaheed Minar premises in the upazila.
The children took part in two categories. The champion, first- and second runners-up in the “A” category were: Sarosi, Tanisha Jahan and Nusrat Jahan. Mouli won the special mention prize. Similarly, the top three winners in the “B” category were: Ahad Abdullah, Tanisha Akter and Akiyab.
Earlier, Ahad Abdullah won the National Drawing Award for primary-level students. All the winners received educational materials as prizes. Mathbaria Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdul Kayyum handed over the prizes.
He thanked Bashundhara Shuvosangho for organising the drawing contest, which he said helped inspire creativity among the participating children, and taught them about the history of the Liberation War 1971.
Mathbaria Press Club President Rafiquzzaman Abir, journalist Abdus Salam Azadi, senior teacher Uttam Kumar Majumdar, Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Mathbaria Unit General Secretary Mehedi Hasan, and Kaler Kantho’s Pirojpur district correspondent Debdas Majumdar took part in the contest, among others.
