Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised a study circle on Imdadul Haq Milan’s famous novel ‘Nurjahan’ at Mononbari Bashundhara Shuvosangho Library, Syedpur upazila of Nilphamari on Tuesday.
The programme was presided over by Alhaj Md Nasim Reza Shah, president of the Bashundhara Shuvosangho Syedpur Upazila Branch and recently retired senior teacher of Syedpur Adarsha Girls’ School. The welcome speech was delivered by the branch’s general secretary Md Shafiqul Alam.
In the reading circle, the plot structure, character analysis, social realities and humanistic messages of Imdadul Haq Milan’s long-standing and widely popular novel Nurjahan were discussed by the upazila branch president Alhaj Md Nasim Reza Shah and Kaler Kantho’s Syedpur upazila correspondent Tofazzal Hossain Lutu. They elaborated on the portrayal of women’s strength and struggle, the tensions within family and society, and the author’s distinctive narrative style.
Speakers said that Nurjahan is not just a literary work; it is a powerful document of women’s struggle, human values and social realities. They expressed that such reading circles will inspire young people to engage more deeply in literature.
