Bashundhara Shuvosangho has extended humanitarian support to an ailing mother and daughter living in dire conditions at Kartikpur village in Banshikunda North Union under Madhyanagar upazila of Sunamganj.
On Monday afternoon, representatives of the Madhyanagar upazila unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho handed over financial assistance for food to 70-year-old Somula Khatun and her 50-year-old daughter Lalbanu.
The mother and daughter live in a dilapidated house in the border village. Once, Somula earned a living by working in others’ homes, but a few months ago, she became debilitated due to a rare disease of the mouth and throat. Shocked by her mother’s suffering, Lalbanu suffered a stroke and became paralyzed.
Because of their poor financial situation, they have been unable to afford treatment and are now living in hardship, often going without food.
During the handover of the assistance, Madhyanagar upazila Bashundhara Shuvosangho Convener Al-Amin Salman, members Shihab Mia and Nirab Ahmed, and journalists Kaiyum Badsha and Shafiqul Islam, among others, were present.
Expressing gratitude, Somula Khatun and Lalbanu said, “We have been suffering for a long time, and no one came to see us. Bashundhara Shuvosangho has given us food assistance, and for that, we are deeply grateful. We pray for Bashundhara Group so that they continue to stand beside helpless people.”
Convener Al-Amin Salman said, “Bashundhara Shuvosangho works for the welfare of the country and its people. We are happy to stand beside Somula Khatun and her daughter Lalbanu. Our humanitarian initiatives for the underprivileged will continue in the future.”
