Manikganj Sadar Upazila unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho has extended support to 80-year-old Chanmati, an elderly woman from Mehendi Bagh village in Manikganj, who has been earning her living by selling vegetables instead of begging after losing her husband.
Despite her age and frailty, Chanmati continues to push her cart through different parts of the town, selling vegetables to make an honest living.
Upon learning about her struggle, the Manikganj unit of Shuvosangho provided her with business capital, including potatoes, onions, ginger, garlic and other vegetables.
Shuvosangho members also provided some clothes and essential medicines to her.
Locals praised Chanmati for setting an example of dignity and hard work, saying Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s assistance will bring new hope to her life.
The initiative was led by unit President Touhidul Islam Ujjal, joined by General Secretary Md Rakib Al Hasan Nahin, Vice President Mubinul Haider Shuvro, and several other members of the organisation, Joint General Secretaries Md Tarek Hossain, Md Zahirul Islam, Md Israfil Hossain.
Also present were Organising Secretary Fahim Farhad, Event Secretary Zahidul Islam Swadhin, Office Secretary Md Robin Mridha, Executive Members Durjoy Chandra, Kiran Mahmud Riday, Md Ayub Ali, Md Raihan Molla, Md Ashikur Rahman, Nirjon, Ali and others.
