Mohiuddin, 42, son of Abdul Hamid of Sultan Saudagar’s house in Syedpur Ward No. 1 under Popadia Union of Boalkhali upazila in Chattogram, once worked as a day laborer to support his family. However, his life took a tragic turn nine months ago when he fell from a tree and fractured his waist. Despite months of treatment, he could not return to his previous occupation as a woodcutter.
Now, he tries to maintain his family by pulling a rickshaw. With a disabled son, wife, and elderly mother depending on him, he struggles to make ends meet.
When members of Bashundhara Shuvosangho learned about his plight, they reached out to provide support. Visiting his home, they found him living in dire conditions—his house in poor shape and his family in distress.
Mohiuddin said that he hardly gets passengers as most people prefer CNG-run vehicles these days, leaving him with very little income to survive.
At this critical time, the Bashundhara Shuvosangho Boalkhali unit extended a helping hand, providing essential food items such as rice, lentils, oil, salt, onions, garlic, and potatoes.
The assistance was handed over to him on Thursday (9 October) afternoon.
Among those present were Abdul Hakim, Abul Khair, Bacha Mia, Md Morshed, Md Yasin, Md Shafik, Md Motaleb, S.M. Main Uddin Rabbi, Md Afif Chowdhury, and others.
Locals said Mohiuddin’s only son is disabled, and he is only the breadwinner in the family. After his accident, he has been unable to do heavy work and depends solely on rickshaw-pulling for survival.
They expressed gratitude for Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s timely assistance and hoped that the organisation would continue its noble efforts to help struggling families.
