Upholding the spirit of humanity that “people are for one another,” Bashundhara Shuvosangho continues its tireless efforts to support the underprivileged and distressed.
As part of this humanitarian mission, the Savar upazila unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho provided a month’s worth of food supplies to a struggling family.
The assistance program was held on Wednesday morning at the premises of Madrasa of the Holy Qur’an in Savar.
The beneficiary, Champa Khatun, a destitute woman abandoned by her husband, has been fighting a difficult battle to raise her three young children — two sons and a daughter.
Despite her daily struggles for survival, she often fails to provide regular meals for her children. To bring a smile to her face, members of Bashundhara Shuvosangho came forward with much-needed aid.
The relief package included essential food items such as a sack of rice, five kilograms of potatoes, two kilograms of flour, one liter of cooking oil, one kilogram of puffed rice, one kilogram of salt, one kilogram of lentils, and other daily necessities — enough to support the family for an entire month.
The event was conducted by Md Shafiqul Islam Pintu, general secretary of Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Savar unit.
Guests included Md Shahadat Hossain Khan, principal of Madrasa of the Holy Qur’an, and Kazi Md Rezaul Karim, advisor of the Savar unit.
The session was presided over by Md Habibur Rahman, president of the Savar upazila committee.
Also present were Vice Presidents Md Jahangir Alam and Md Faisal Ahmed Swadhin, Organising Secretary Jafar Iqbal, Finance Secretary Razia Jesmin Bobby, Education and Reading Circle Secretary Kasmery Akter Akhi, Women and Children Affairs Secretary Kohinur Akter, Sports Secretary Jannatul Ferdous, Planning Secretary Nabila Akter, and other members of the organisation.
Speakers at the event emphasised that standing beside the helpless is the truest form of humanity. They said, “The tears of joy in a mother’s eyes are our greatest reward. Bashundhara Shuvosangho will continue such humanitarian initiatives in the future.”
Local residents praised the initiative, noting that Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s compassionate work spreads empathy and love within society. Through such acts of kindness, the organisation is setting a powerful example of social change and community solidarity in Savar.
