Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised a discussion meeting and anti-drug campaign in Gaibandha Sadar upazila on Saturday.
The event took place at the Gorodighi Islamia Dakhil Madrasah ground in Ramchandrapur union.
Gaibandha Sadar upazila Shuvosangho president Shamiul Basir presided over the meeting. General secretary Md Ashidul Islam, vice-president Abu Sayeed Md Ahad Soikot, finance secretary Md Hamim Chowdhury, education and study circle secretary Md Saju Ahmed, relief and disaster management secretary Md Mojahid Hasan, and other members attended.
Speakers described drugs as a “deadly addiction” that gravely affects millions, especially students and young people. They warned that drug abuse endangers the nation’s promising future.
They emphasised that life is one and should be lived meaningfully, but drugs destroy that chance.
To protect the new generation, they called for collective awareness at both personal and family levels.
They also highlighted that teachers, as nation-builders, and the administration, as a tool for development, must work together to strengthen the social movement against drugs.
At the end of the meeting, participants decided to take new initiatives to make Shuvosangho’s activities more dynamic.
