The Sirajganj district unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised an introductory meeting and sewing machine distribution programme on Thursday at a restaurant in the town.
Members of the organisation and local well-wishers attended the event.
Several marginalised women and students in Sirajganj received sewing machines, creating opportunities for them to become self-reliant.
Speakers at the event said such initiatives not only bring hope to individuals but also foster dignity and self-employment. They observed that even a small act of support can sometimes transform lives.
The programme was addressed by the organisation’s adviser pharmacist Abul Kalam Azad, engineer Sakhawat Hossain, district correspondent of Bangladesh Pratidin and News24 Abdus Samad Sayem, Banglanews district correspondent Swapan Chandra Das, and Kaler Kantho multimedia reporter Rabbi Hasan Hridoy.
They stressed that building a humanitarian movement requires every young person to step forward for society, and Bashundhara Shuvosangho is working towards that goal.
District unit president Dr SM Kamrul Hasan Murad presided over the meeting. Among others present were vice-president Asha Sarkar, general secretary Ashkarul Haque, joint general secretaries Fardeen Rana and Piyas Hossain, organising secretary Ismail Hossain, office secretary Bahadur Hossain, finance secretary Rasheda Parveen, literature and culture secretary Jubayer Jiko, social welfare secretary Abdul Awal Ananta, sports secretary Akinur Rahman, information and technology secretary Moni Khatun, science and technology secretary Ahsan Habib, and health and education secretary Faisal Biswas.
Executive members Sonia Akter, Shamimuzzaman, Swarn Kamal, Araf Khan, Rashedul Hasan Setu, Imran Hossain, Shakil Ahmed, Al-Amin, Sarker Rasel, Yasir, Arafat, and Md Sohag Rana were also present.
The event created an inspiring atmosphere. Guests and participants said the initiative not only changed the lives of three women but also carried a message of encouragement for the entire society.
