Bashundhara Shuvosangho Patiya upazila unit has organised a tree plantation programme in Patiya with the slogan “Green World, Save Life" to encourage the youth to participate in combating global warming and climate change.
Bashundhara Shuvosangho planted various species of fruit, forest, and medicinal trees in the courtyard of Khan Mohana Government Primary School in Patia on the occasion of the programme.
Patiya Press Club President Abdul Hakim Rana, Eminent physician Dr Shakhawat Hossain Hiru and Shuva Sangh Chittagong District President SMA Jewel, and Sirajul Islam, among others, were present in the programme.
Abdul Hakim Rana said, "The most effective way to protect the environment is to plant trees because trees not only provide us with oxygen but also play an immense role in food, shelter, and biodiversity conservation."
He said, “Trees are the most important component in keeping the world habitable.”
SMA Jewel said, “These planted trees in the schoolyard will provide shade in the coming days, enhance beauty, and inspire students to be environmentally friendly.”
The speakers appreciated this initiative of Bashundhara Shuvosangho and urged it to continue in the future.
They also mentioned that Bashundhara Shuvosangho has been regularly contributing to social development, educational support, environmental protection and humanitarian activities.
Shuvosangho has become a social movement by involving the young generation in positive activities. Such activities have been spread not only in Patiya but also across the country, the speakers added.
Shuvosangho requested local people to take care and maintain the newly planted trees and it promised to continue organising social and environment-friendly programmes regularly.
