Bashundhara Shuvosangho Paikgasa unit organised an anti-drug football match to raise awareness against drug addiction, a social menace threatening today’s youth. The match took place on Thursday at the Kharia Secondary School field in Laskar Union.
Two teams competed — Kharia Milan Bithi Football Academy and Kharia Friends Club. The players turned the green field into a canvas of hope, delivering the message, “Choose sports, not drugs.”
The match thrilled the crowd with skill, strategy and emotion. Kharia Milan Bithi Football Academy won 2-1, sparking celebrations across the ground. Organisers awarded trophies and medals to the champion and runner-up teams, while Rakesh Mondal earned the man of the match title.
Senior teacher of Kharia Secondary School, Dipak Chandra Mondal, attended as chief guest. He praised Bashundhara Group’s slogan, “Always with good causes,” and lauded the organisation for promoting social awareness. Assistant teacher Idris Ali, present as special guest, also commended the initiative.
Upazila president Kartik Rudra said, “When drugs spread poison into society’s veins, sports shine as a beacon of hope.”
Other attendees included joint secretary Sheikh Imran Hossain Prince, office secretary Zahidur Rahman Sardar, health and human development secretary Nur Islam, member Pritam Das, social worker Bhairab Mondal, local dignitaries, teachers and staff of the school.
