Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised a discussion on the importance and use of renewable energy with secondary-level students of New Government Degree College in Rajshahi on Wednesday.
The programme aimed to raise awareness among the young generation about renewable energy and its benefits.
Md Zulfiqar Ali Haider, office secretary of the Rajshahi district unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho, attended the event as the keynote speaker.
He elaborated on different aspects of renewable energy, including solar, wind, and hydropower, highlighting their necessity and future potential. He also stressed the urgency of reducing dependence on fossil fuels to tackle the severe impacts of climate change.
A representative from CAB Youth Parliament, Rajshahi district unit, also spoke at the programme, focusing on the sustainable use of renewable energy and its economic advantages. He said proper utilisation of renewable energy can not only help protect the environment but also create new employment opportunities.
Md Pias Ahmed Siam, relief and disaster management secretary of Bashundhara Shuvosangho, and executive member Nure Habib Siddiqi also attended the programme. They appreciated the initiative and conveyed valuable messages to the students.
Representing the college, Md Rafid Ahmed thanked Bashundhara Shuvosangho for arranging such an educational event.
At the end of the programme, a question-and-answer session was held, where students asked various questions about renewable energy and environmental issues. The speakers responded enthusiastically, sparking further curiosity and interest among the participants.
