With the slogan “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Sports”, Bashundhara Shuvosangho has distributed footballs among local children and adolescents in Makrai village, Ward-5 of Birganj Municipality in Dinajpur.
The event was held on Wednesday morning, organised by the Birganj upazila unit of Shuvosangho.
Friends of the organisation handed over the footballs, sparking excitement among the youngsters.
Some children jumped with joy while others immediately began playing on the field.
Eighth-grade student Rishad Islam (13) said happily, “Now we will be able to play regularly. Alongside studying, this will also keep us physically fit. Thanks to Bashundhara Shuvosangho for giving us these footballs.”
The programme was attended by Sohel Ahmed, adviser of the Birganj unit, Farhad Hossain, former president, Tanvir Ahmed, current president, and Masud Rana, organisational secretary, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, unit President Tanvir Ahmed said, “Our goal is not only to promote sports but also to engage the young generation in social development and humanitarian activities.”
Parents welcomed the initiative, noting that encouraging children to play sports will help them grow strong and healthy, while keeping them away from drugs and excessive use of electronic devices.
