Bashundhara Shuvosangho in Kurigram’s Rajibpur upazila has provided financial assistance to a woman in need of medical treatment.
Afroza Khatun, a resident of Karatipara village, broke her right leg after slipping near a tube-well while carrying kitchen utensils. Locals rushed her to hospital, where an X-ray confirmed the fracture. Her husband, a day labourer, has been unable to find work due to continuous rainfall, leaving the family struggling to manage daily expenses. Amidst the hardship, the couple grew anxious about arranging treatment costs.
With no money for medicine, Afroza remained confined at home. Locals Al Amin and Habib came forward with whatever help they could manage. They later conveyed the family’s plight to members of Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Rajibpur Government College unit.
Responding to the call, on Tuesday noon, members of the organisation visited Afroza’s house and handed over financial support to her mother-in-law to assist with her treatment.
Present at the time were Arif Mahmud, organising secretary of the Rajibpur Government College unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho, along with members Sabuj, Sumon, and Masud. Also in attendance were Rajibpur Sadar Union Jubo Dal’s member secretary Al Amin Akand, Rajibpur Government College Chhatra Dal activist Habib, Ripon, journalist Al Amin, among others.
Receiving the support, Afroza Khatun said, “In this time of hardship, I had no idea how I would bear the treatment cost or manage daily living. Those who stood by me in this crisis—may Allah bless them. I am sincerely grateful to Bashundhara Shuvosangho for their help.”
