During the monsoon season, rivers, canals, ponds, and ditches overflow with water, causing frequent drowning incidents.
Children and non-swimmers often face fatal accidents while playing or bathing in these waters, with children being the most vulnerable.
To address this alarming issue, Bashundhara Shubhosongho organized an awareness meeting on Sunday morning at Swarupkathi Government Primary School, which was attended by students and their parents.
Upazila Shubhosongho President, Md. Mohibullah presided over the event. Adviser and Kaler Kantho correspondent Hazrat Ali Hiru, Education Secretary and head teacher Seema Rani Halder, Joint Secretary Masudul Alam Apu, Organizing Secretary Md. Mostakim Billah Raju, and Women and Children Affairs Secretary Umme Kulsum Hasi delivered speeches.
Speakers highlighted the importance of teaching children how to swim, shared precautionary measures, and demonstrated basic first-aid techniques for drowning victims. Teachers and parents praised Shubhosongho’s initiative and stressed the need for continued awareness to protect children from such tragedies.
