Bashundhara Shuvosangho distributed fruit tree saplings among tribal people of Rupnarayan Kura Union under Nalitabari upazila of Sherpur on Friday.
The volunteers of a charitable organisation provided each family with a high-quality fruit tree sapling along with necessary advice on planting and proper care of trees.
The initiative was taken to raise awareness about saving trees and the long-term benefits of fruit tree plantation.
The event was moderated and supervised by Toukir Ahmed Tanjil, president of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Nalitabari upazila unit.
Among others the unit’s advisors Zubayer Ahmed Joy, Uttam Kumar Singh and Sidratul Muntaha, along with its General Secretary Naimur Hasan Rifat, Organising Secretary Abdus Samad, Joint General Secretary Ruknuzzaman Fahim and Sports Secretary Sanowar Alam were also present during the programme.
Prior to the sampling distribution, a brief discussion was held, where speakers talked about the benefits of planting fruit trees.
The speakers said that the fruit trees not only provide nutrition and food for families but also play an important role in maintaining environmental balance.
The speakers urged everyone to plant at least one fruit tree.
The members of Bashundhara Shuvosangho said that the main objective of the programme was to strengthen environmentally friendly activities and encourage the rural communities to plant fruit trees.
