Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised a turban-tying ceremony to honour 12 Hafiz-e-Quran of Fazlul Ulum Qaumi Madrasa, located in Gangni upazila of Meherpur, on Friday.
The event, regarded as part of “Sadqah Jariyah,” was aimed at recognising the achievements of students who have completed memorising the entire Holy Quran.
Receiving his turban from the principal of the madrasa, Hafiz Md Zakaria said, “A lifelong dream of a student of Hifz-ul-Quran is to complete the 30 parts of the Holy Quran and to be honoured with Dastarband. Receiving it today, I feel blessed and honoured.”
The programme was conducted by Raju Ahmed Boni, president of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Gangni Upazila Branch.
Guests of the programme included Mahbub Rahman, advisor of the Gangni Upazila Branch, social worker Shahidul Islam, Fazlul Haque, vice president of the Madrasa Governing Body and Mufti Shahiduzzaman, director and principal of the Madrasa, along with other teachers of the institution.
Also present were Tariqul Islam, vice president of Gangni Upazila Branch and media personality, Abdur Rahim, Vice President SM Tarek, Joint General Secretary Khairul Bashar, Organising Secretary Julfikar Abir, Office Secretary Fahad Hossain Shihab, Education and Study Circle Secretary and Masud Ikhtiar, Relief Secretary, among others.
Speakers at the event noted that memorising the Holy Quran is not only a personal milestone but also a valuable asset for society and the wider Muslim Ummah.
They said such initiatives to honour the Hafiz would encourage future generations to pursue Quranic education.
