In today’s world, photography is not only a hobby or a form of art, but also gaining importance as a potential source of income.
Keeping this issue in mind, Jibannagar upazila unit Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised a workshop titled “Photography Can Be a Source of Income” on Wednesday with the participation of 20 youths.
Jibannagar upazila Shuvosangho Adviser and Kaler Kantho’s Jibannagar correspondent Zahirul Islam moderated the event where renowned wildlife photographers Shameem Ali Chowdhury and Naser Ahmed discussed various aspects of photography.
In the workshop, participants gained insights into practical strategies for earning through photography, necessary equipment, market demand, and ways to turn creative work into a profession.
Zahirul Islam said the youth are finding ways to earn from photography through online platforms, social media, stock photography websites, YouTube, and Facebook. In particular, the markets for nature, travel, product, and event photography are expanding rapidly.
“In the digital era, a good photograph not only earns appreciation but also generates income. With regular practice, the use of modern editing software, and selling photos on online marketplaces, young people can create opportunities to earn from home,” he added.
Addressing the participants, Naser Ahmed said, “Photography is more than just capturing memories. It connects us with nature and encourages responsibility for its preservation as well.”
He shared his experiences from travelling to different parts of the world for photography and highlighted the experiences he gained throughout his photography journey.
At the event, Shameem Ali Chowdhury provided detailed insights into the intricacies of photography, including cameras, focus, and framing.
He emphasised that when work is pursued with dedication and passion, photography can go beyond a hobby and make a meaningful impact in real life. With high-quality work, it can also become a source of income both at home and abroad, he added.
