Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised an awareness-raising campaign on Dengue outbreak at Kalaroa upazila in satkhira district on Thursday.
The programme, held at the playground of Kalaroa Government Primary School under the motto “By Your Side in Good Deeds,” brought together people from different professions in Kalaroa Bazar.
The event was presided over by Kalaroa Upazila Shuvosangho President Faruk Hossain Raj and conducted by General Secretary and teacher Md Mohirul Islam.
With the arrival of the monsoon, stagnant water often collects in home yards, rooftops, flowerpots, coconut shells, discarded bottles, cans, and other containers. If not cleaned regularly, these spots become ideal breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes, which multiply rapidly and spread deadly diseases such as dengue, chikungunya, and Zika. Even a small lapse in awareness can turn into a serious threat for families and communities.
Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised the campaign to raise awareness on this matter.
Guests included Satkhira District Shuvosangho President Fahad Hossain, Kalaroa Upazila unit advisers and primary school principals Mujibur Rahman and Kazi Shamsur Rahman.
Several other unit leaders were also present, including Office Secretary Tafhimul Islam, Literature and Culture Secretary Khan Najmus Shahadat, Sports Secretary Matiur Rahman Rubel, IT Secretary Ashiqur Rahman, Social Welfare Secretary Md Asaduzzaman Asad, and members Ariful Islam, Omar Faruk, Nur Hossain, Billal Hossain, and Asadul Islam.
Speakers stressed that raising awareness is the most effective way to prevent dengue, urging residents to remove stagnant water from around their homes, keep flowerpots and water containers clean, and encourage neighbors to do the same.
Participants collectively pledged to keep their homes and surroundings clean to ensure no one in their communities falls victim to dengue or other mosquito-borne diseases.
