With the pledge to stand by people in good causes, the Kalkini upazila unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho in Madaripur held its new committee’s introduction ceremony on Saturday.
The programme was held at 10:00 am at the Kalkini Press Club auditorium.
A new 41-member committee was also announced for the next one year, with Abul Khayer as president and Tanha Islam as general secretary.
After the introductory session, a discussion on drug prevention was held, followed by an anti-drug oath-taking event.
Milon Roy Chowdhury, Bashundhara Shuvosangho adviser and assistant headteacher of Char Daulat Khan Secondary School, administered the oath.
The event was presided over by Abul Khayer and conducted by Tanha Islam.
Among others, vice-presidents Md Monir Sardar, Md Jubair Sardar and Naimul Islam Nahid spoke at the meeting.
Speakers at the event urged everyone to be more aware in order to build a just society, emphasising the importance of saying no to drugs and working together for a drug-free nation.
Other committee members present included vice-presidents Sajib Khan, Golam Rabbani, and Arpita Roy Chowdhury; joint general secretary Yasin Hossain; organising secretary Khandaker Mubin; office secretary Sifat Mahmud; women affairs secretary Jemi Afsana; women and children affairs secretary Nusrat Jahan; publicity secretary Yahia Jaman Tanmoy; members Nusrat Jahan Mim, Adnan Sami, and Amman Sani.
