Bashundhara Shuvosangho inaugurated a tree plantation drive in Fulpur of Mymensingh district on Sunday.
The event was held at Dakshin Dhanta Government Primary School in the upazila.
To ensure the protection of the planted trees, an aesthetically designed wall has been constructed, prominently featuring the name of Bashundhara Shuvosangho inscribed in white stone.
Presided over by Ziaur Rahman Panna, President of the Bashundhara Shuvosangho Fulbaria Upazila Unit, the event was graced by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sadia Islam Seema as the chief guest.
Other notable guests included Fulbaria Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mehedi Hasan Faruq, Bashundhara Shuvosangho advisor and UP Administrator Agriculturist Kamrul Hasan Kamu, and Kaler Kantho’s upazila correspondent Mostafa Khan.
Chief guest UNO Sadia Islam Seema praised the initiative, saying, “Bashundhara Shuvosangho is a voluntary organisation whose activities are rooted in humanity. Their plantation and care programme will surely inspire more people to take an interest in greenery.”
Local residents expressed their commitment to nurturing the planted trees and mentioned that a joint inspection team from Bashundhara Shuvosangho would regularly monitor the progress.
Following the plantation ceremony, an awareness session was held with students of the school. They were provided with specific guidance on attending school regularly. A cultural programme by the students added vibrancy to the event, leaving the guests thoroughly impressed with the children's outstanding performances.
UNO Sadia Islam Seema awarded prizes to standout performers Saramoni, Afia Akter, Faima, and Taiyuba in recognition of their delightful presentations. All participating students were also gifted sports equipment. Teachers Abu Bakkar, Majda Khatun, Asiya Akter, and Ayesha Mahmuda extended full support to ensure the success of the programme.
