Bashundhara Shuvosangho has organised a discussion meeting on the prevention of child marriage at Bhola Night and Day Secondary School in the coastal district.
Md Sharafat Hossain, Vice President of the Bangladesh Teachers Association, attended the programme as the chief guest on Sunday. Shuvosangho advisers Md Sharif Al Mamun, Md Abdur Rahman, Farhana Rashid, and Badal Chandra Dey were also present.
The discussion meeting was moderated by Yuthi Akhter, General Secretary of Bhola Night and Day Secondary School.
Md Sharafat Hossain said that child marriage is not only a threat to the health of the mother but also to the health of the child.
“Child marriage has become a social disease. Everyone should be aware of the prevention of child marriage from their own position, and children should be taught about family and social values,” he said.
Adviser Farhana Rashid applauded such activities of Bashundhara Shuvosangho at the school level to prevent child marriage.
“As a result of child marriage, teenage girls have to get pregnant at a young age and fall into the lap of death. Through these activities of Bashundhara Shuvosangho, school students will be aware,” she said.
