Bashundhara Shuvosangho has launched a blood donation campaign in Shariatpur to support the people amid a surge in dengue patients in the area.
The inauguration event took place on Monday in the district court area. Dr Kanak Jyoti Mondal of Sadar Hospital attended the event as the chief guest, while Assistant Professor Md Abdul Karim of ZH Sikder University of Science and Technology was present as the special guest.
The session was chaired by Mizanur Rahman Molla, president of the local Shuvosangho unit.
Expressing hope, Dr Kanak Jyoti Mondal said that humanitarian initiatives like blood donation will make today’s young society more health-conscious and responsible.
“We often struggle to obtain the necessary blood for patients, especially in the case of rare types like B-negative or O-negative,” he said. “However, if a list of blood donors is prepared properly in advance, it becomes possible to save lives quickly.”
The age of the blood donors must be between 18 and 60 years, the weight must be at least 50 kilograms, and the body must be healthy and strong, according to the physician.
Md Abdul Karim said “The young generation has the option to be involved in this initiative to make the next generation more humane and aware. At the same time, it is possible to save a life through blood donation. If students engage in these activities, the future society will be more humane.”
Shuvosangho unit Adviser Shariful Alam Emon, Vice President Harun-or Rashid, General Secretary Firoz Sardar, Finance Secretary Md Rimon Dhali, Office Secretary Omar Bin Ali, Publicity Secretary Shahin Alam, Member Kabirul Alam Monir, and cultural personalities Moraz Hossain Munshi, Shahadat Hossain Dhali and Jibon Mia were present.
