Bashundhara Shuvosangho has conducted a campaign against drug abuse in Manikganj, marking the inauguration of a newly formed committee in the district.
Manikganj Press Club Convener Jahangir Alam Biswas was the guest, while Shuvosangho district unit former President Kashinath Sarkar chaired the session on Saturday.
Md Hasan Sikdar has been nominated as the president of the new committee, while Mir Naimur Rahman Praban has been appointed as general secretary. Addressing the programme, Hasan Sikdar said that the committee currently comprises 49 members, with the possibility of adding a few more if required.
The committee includes five advisers: Dr Mohammad Nasimul Islam, SA Jinna Kabir, Khondaker Khaleqzuman, Kashinath Sarkar and Hamidur Rashid Firoz.
In the second half of the anti-drug discussion meeting, it was decided to take awareness programmes to various educational institutions of Manikganj.
Shuvosangho unit General Secretary Naimul Islam Praban said that the organisation has to take an anti-drug stance through a strong campaign.
"We should continue to try to build a healthy society by using this platform for all anti-social and anti-national activities, including drugs," he said.
