Bashundhara Shuvosangho has conducted a public awareness programme and rally to raise awareness about suicide prevention in Manirampur of Jashore.
Shuvosangho upazila unit President SM Hafizur Rahman chaired the session while General Secretary Abdur Rahman Akash moderated the discussion held at Manirampur Women's Degree College on Thursday.
College lecturers Kamruzzaman, Al Mahmud, Md Ripon Ali, Md Rashedul Islam, Md Titon Israfil Hossain, Md Titon Hossain, Kaler Kantho correspondent Mohammad Babul Akthar, and student Maliha Mehnaz Bibha were present on the occasion.
Speakers at the rally described suicide as a grave affliction for human society that not only claims the lives of individuals but also inflicts deep scars on families and society as a whole.
They also stated that when a person chooses the path of suicide, he thinks that this is the final solution to all his problems.
Many people can be freed from depression if they focus on mental health, family support, social awareness, religious and moral education, and employment, and also if economic stability is ensured in terms of suicide prevention.
