Following its journey through several international film festivals, Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury's ‘Boli’ is ready to hit theaters in Bangladesh this Friday.
Producer Piplu R Khan stated that they are getting ready for the release of Boli. The film, which won Best Film at the Busan International Film Festival and received its censor approval in September, was originally set to release on February 14. However, after discussions with the director, they decided to move the release to this weekend. Despite the tight timeline, they are sticking to the new plan.
Director Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury shared, "We are releasing the film on Friday. The distributor and theatre owners have agreed to it, and we're wrapping up the final touches accordingly."
Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury, from Bashkhali in Chattogram, Bangladesh, was deeply affected by the 1991 cyclone and the cries of families searching for loved ones. His connection to the sea and his heritage inspired his first film, ‘Boli’, which tells the story of Boli Khela (traditional wrestling), a sport tied to the coastal culture of Chattogram.
The film won Best Film at the 28th Busan International Film Festival and was screened at several festivals, including Shanghai and the 23rd Dhaka International Film Festival.
Nasir Uddin Khan portrays the lead role of Boli in the film, with Priyam Archi, AKM Itmam, and Angel Noor featuring alongside him.
