Mehazabien Chowdhury's upcoming movie “Saba” continues its winning streak abroad. The film recently won the third prize in the Asian cinema category at the Bengaluru International Film Festival.
Expressing excitement about the award, the film's director, Maksud Hossain, shared that Saba competed with numerous Asian films at the 16th Bengaluru Film Festival in India. Winning such an award is truly an honor, and the joy of this achievement is unmatched, he remarked.
Mehazabien posted the news on Facebook, congratulating the entire Saba team.
Recently, Hossain returned to the country after participating in the Berlinale Talents at the Berlin Film Festival. Along with the award, he mentioned that Saba has been "praised" at eight film festivals so far.
The movie has also been selected for the competition section at the 20th Osaka Asian Film Festival in Japan, which will begin on March 19.
Hossain also shared that a symposium or special discussion on Saba's journey will be held at the Osaka festival, where he will arrive on the inauguration day to participate. The festival will feature two screenings of the film.
Regarding the release of Saba, the director said that the film will be part of several more film festivals.
Since it is not an Eid-centric movie, there are plans to release it for domestic audiences in June or July this year, Hossain noted.
