Professor Asif Nazrul, the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs advisor to the interim government, said the trial of the child rape and abuse in Magura will begin within seven days.
He said this at a press conference held at the Secretariat Law Ministry on Thursday.
The legal advisor said, “The autopsy of the child will be done today (Thursday). DNA samples have been taken. The body will be taken by helicopter today. The trial will begin within seven days.”
He said that the trial will end quickly and hope that the convicted ones will be given exemplary punishment.
Asif Nazrul said, “A special tribunal will work in child rape and assault cases under the new law, and the process of the law will begin next Sunday or Monday.”
He said that the government did not waste any time. Everyone was quickly arrested. They were interrogated.
“We must keep an eye on whether anyone wants to do anything different in the name of the movement in the rape case,” he said.
Earlier, the child rape victim in Magura died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka's Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Thursday afternoon. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the death.
