A total of 63,783 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims have returned home from Saudi Arabia as of Monday following the completion of this year's Hajj on May 26, reports BSS.
According to the Hajj Office, 164 return flights have been operated so far by three designated airlines. Of these, Biman Bangladesh Airlines operated 84 flights, Saudia Airlines 58 flights and Flynas Airlines 22 flights.
Among the returning pilgrims, 4,319 travelled under government management, while 59,464 returned through private Hajj agencies.
Officials said the remaining pilgrims are expected to return gradually on the designated airlines before the end of the repatriation programme.
Meanwhile, 54 Bangladeshi pilgrims died in Saudi Arabia during this year's Hajj, including 36 men and 18 women. Of them, 37 died in Makkah, 16 in Madinah and one in Jeddah.
This year's Hajj operations began with the first outbound flight on April 18 and concluded on May 21.
Return flights started on May 30 and are scheduled to continue until July 1.
