Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has expressed gratitude to the Malaysian government.
He is currently on a visit to China after completing an 18-hour visit to Malaysia on Monday. He expressed this gratitude in a message to the Malaysian government.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs released Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's message on Tuesday.
In the message, the Prime Minister mentioned, "My wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman and I express our sincere gratitude to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Dr. Wan Azizah binti Wan Ismail for their incredibly warm welcome and hospitality. We are deeply touched by the friendly attitude and cordiality shown by the Malaysian government and its friendly people. My discussions with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim have further strengthened the long-standing relationship between Bangladesh and Malaysia.”
He noted, “This relationship dates back decades, from the time of my father, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, and my mother, Begum Khaleda Zia, while she was the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. I express my sincere gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Sultan Iskandar of Malaysia for granting me the time for his meeting.”
The Prime Minister further noted, “Bangladesh highly values its bilateral and multilateral relations with Malaysia. We are proud of the people-to-people contacts that have brought our two countries together in various fields and at all levels of society. I look forward to working closely with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to further strengthen our multifaceted partnership with Malaysia after my first state visit as Prime Minister.”
