A severe traffic jam spanning three kilometers has brought the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway to a standstill in the Sonargaon area of Narayanganj, severely disrupting the flow of traffic. The gridlock, which began around 8 a.m. on Tuesday, has caused significant delays for drivers and passengers alike.
The congestion was triggered by a collision between a truck and a covered van at the Jatramura section of the highway. Vehicles traveling from Kanchpur to Bishwar Road have been stranded for over two hours, creating frustration for those with urgent commitments.
Kanchpur Highway Police Station’s OC Kazi Wahid Morshed confirmed the cause of the traffic jam, attributing it to the accident. He mentioned that police are working to manage the situation but added that the heavy traffic load is making it challenging to clear the road quickly.
