Chuadanga recorded the highest temperature of this season at 39.8°C this afternoon (March 28).
According to the Chuadanga First Class Meteorological Observatory, a heat wave has been sweeping the district for the past few days, with temperatures rising, particularly after noon.
Rakibul Hasan, senior observer of Chuadanga First Class Weather Observatory, told UNB that a moderate heat wave is currently sweeping over Chuadanga and may persist for several more days.
The temperature could reach up to 41 degrees Celsius over the next week, he added.
Nasir Uddin, a resident of Chuadanga town, shared, "It's becoming unbearable to endure this heat during fasting. I can't go outside in the afternoon. My head spins from the heat, and my body feels weak."
The situation is even more challenging for low-income workers.
An unnamed rickshaw puller, standing at a crossroads in Chuadanga town, said, "If I don't work, I won't get food. But it's extremely difficult to pull a rickshaw in this heat after fasting. My throat feels dry and tight."
According to today's BMD’s weather bulletin, a mild heat wave is sweeping over the division of Khulna and the districts of Dhaka, Faridpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Lakshmipur and Feni and it may continue and spread.
Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, added the bulletin.
