With the approach of Eid, travelers heading home have been crossing the Padma Bridge without significant delays. Vehicles are utilizing the bridge's nine lanes, with two lanes dedicated to motorcycles. To manage the increased traffic flow, a temporary toll booth has been set up at the Mawa end of the bridge.
Many people leave early in the morning to avoid the scorching heat of Chaitra, causing long lines at the toll plaza. These lines include motorcycles, private cars, jeeps, micros, buses, and trucks. Although traffic volumes can increase, leading to longer queues, the situation clears up at times as well. Authorities have implemented various plans to ensure smooth travel for those heading home for Eid.
According to the Bangladesh Bridge Authority, a total of 39,637 vehicles crossed the Padma Bridge on Friday. Of those, approximately 1,000 were motorcycles. The total toll collected that day amounted to over 42.5 million taka.
