A Dhaka court has sentenced Abdul Malek, a former driver of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), to 13 years of rigorous imprisonment for acquiring illegal wealth.
Judge Zakaria Hossain of Dhaka Special Judge Court-6 announced the verdict on Sunday.
Malek has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for acquiring wealth beyond his known income sources, along with a fine of Tk100,000. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional six months of imprisonment.
Additionally, for concealing information, he has been sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Tk100,000. If he fails to pay the fine, he will serve another six months in prison.
