Election Commission Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said field-level officials have collected data on nearly 50 lakh people eligible to be voters as of Monday.
"Field-level officials have collected data on 49,70,388 eligible voters as of Monday during the door-to-door data collection campaign, which began on January 20," he said at a press briefing on updating the voter list at Nirbachan Bhaban in the city's Agargaon on Tuesday.
He stated that 1.6 million women have registered this time, and those previously excluded will also be included in the ongoing programme.
Registration will continue until April 11, Akhtar added.
Eligible candidates can register online and through zonal offices, he said, adding, "If no information collector visits a house, the matter will be investigated."
