The dismissed members of Bangladesh Police demonstrating to get their jobs back have been asked not to block any road in the capital Dhaka, creating disruption in public life.
In a press statement issued on Friday, the police headquarters urged protesters to refrain from blocking roads, stating that a committee led by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) is reviewing their demands.
The police headquarters has so far received a total of 1,522 applications in this regard and it is now working sincerely so that the terminated policemen get justice, said the statement.
The DIG-led committee is investigating whether the dismissed cops have become victims of politics of vengeance.
It is also being investigated whether they were sacked for their moral degradation, involvement in criminal or financial offences or violating the departmental rules and regulations, it added.
Most of the applications are now under trial in an administrative tribunal or administrative appellate tribunal, said the statement.
It was also stated that on January 29, while the dismissed police members were holding a human chain in front of the police headquarters, a delegation led by a senior police official approached them and explained the matter in detail.
Despite this, the dismissed police members went on the roads with blockade programmes, causing huge public suffering.
In this circumstances, the police authority asked the dismissed police members not to do it again for the sake of the public interest, according to the statement.
