Long before the gate opened, numerous young music enthusiasts gathered making long queues in front of the Bashundhara Toggi Club. They were overjoyed as finally Dhaka was set to get a fabulous concert this time on Friday.
Unbridled enthusiasm of youth was clear from their sound of cheers. The crazy fans of James were waiting eagerly to hear the voice of their favourite rock star.
The whole area surrounding Bashundhara Togi Club was filled with youths. Apart from James, the youths’ enthusiasm was also centered on top six bands of the country, Artcell, Shironamhin, Meghdol, AvoidRafa, Angel Noor and 3A D.
The gate of the concert titled “Rhythm of Youth”, arranged by leading English broadsheet the Daily Sun and the country’s lone sports channel T-Sports, was opened at 2:00pm, the passionate audience entered the venue to taste the thrilling musical experience.
After a hectic and turbulent period, it was necessary to attract the youths in sports and music. Organisers of the concert basically arranged the event focusing on it.
The concert began with an original number of the band 3A D. Later, they performed “Tero Nodi Saat Somuddur”, “Ghumonto Shohore”, “Jhor” etc cover scores.
Then popular vocalist Shibu Kumar Shil appeared on stage with members of his band Meghdol. From ‘Esho Amar Shohore’, ‘Firbona Tumi Ar Ami’, ‘Na Bola Phul Phutbe’ to ‘Hawa’, he left no popular number while performing.
Progressive metal band Artcell rocked the stage with one of their signature songs ‘Amar Pothchola’. Then it performed ‘Osomoy’ and ‘Oniket Prantor’ to make fans crazier in the Bashundhara Toggi Club arena.
Artcell then came up with its rich tributes to the country’s legendary bands and band icons. It started with paying homage to popguru Azam Khan presenting his ‘Rail Lainer Oi Bostite’, Miles’ number ‘Nila’ to commemorate Shafin Ahmed, Warfaze’s ‘Bose Achi Eka’.
The band ended its performance with Souls’ ‘Brishti Dekhe Onek Kedechi’.
Bands Shironamhin, AvoidRafa, Angel Noor and James were yet to perform while filing this report.
